As member of the Core departments operating team this position must be capable of independently performing all duties including using a variety of materials to make alterations, installations, and repairs to plant machinery and other equipment.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Participates in the continuous improvement process by making suggestions to Supervisors and Leads.
  • Ensures that all housekeeping requirements are met.
  • Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains machinery and equipment.
  • Works from a variety of sketches, manuals, drawings, blueprints, and SOPs when available and recommends alterations to Lead Mechanic or Area Leader.
  • May be asked to assume duties of Lead Mechanic when absent.
  • Recognizes operational irregularities on equipment or processes, accurately determines the cause and takes appropriate corrective actions.
  • Actively participates in team meetings and activities and from time to time may be asked to assume various leadership roles within the team.
  • Shares the responsibility with the Lead Mechanic for providing training to other departmental personnel/apprentices, including safety procedures.
  • Individual must know the plant emergency procedures for the handling and disposing of solid or liquid waste.
  • Shares the responsibility with Electrical/Instrument personnel for promptly notifying production personnel of equipment or process malfunctions.
  • Refers unusual problems to Lead Mechanic or Supervisor.
  • Performs required base craft duties as well as all other duties assigned to maintain the plant.
  • Must work on and around moving equipment ensuring LOTO has been performed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Individual must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to work independently or as a member of a team to meet demands.
  • Also must have completed at least four years of industrial mechanical maintenance work or relevant military experience.
  • A completed approved four year apprentice program will also be considered.
  • Individual should have basic computer knowledge.
  • Individual must be able to independently analyze mechanical or equipment problems and implement solutions.
  • Individual may be exposed to undesirable conditions such as dust, fumes, dirt, close quarters, chemicals, airborne Be, etc.
  • Individual also frequently lifts heavy material, climbs stairs, and is on feet most of the work day.
  • Must have good verbal and written skills.
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to provide customer service.
  • Shift work may be required.
  • Must be open to day, afternoon and night shift and weekend coverage.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
