Blair Housing Authority has been providing decent, safe, and affordable rental housing in Blair for low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities since 1969. BHA currently has 100 public housing units - 83 apartments and 17 single family homes and duplexes for families. BHA is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, including a Resident Commissioner. The members are appointed by the Mayor of Blair. The commissioners each serve a five year term. The Board of Commissioners is the policy making body of the housing authority. Commissioners pass resolutions and policies for the governance of the housing authority. The Executive Director and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) inform Commissioners about current policies, regulations, and when changes in policies need to be made. The Executive Director is hired by the Commissioners as the chief officer to manage the day to day housing program and execute policies adopted by the Commissioners.
