Title: Service Technician, Post-Press
Location: Must live near a major airport (30 - 45 minute radius) 100% Remote with nearly 100% business travel domestically and occasional international travel
Reports to: Service Manager
Direct Reports: None
Standard Schedule: Monday - Friday, hours vary; must be available to work weekends as needed.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the sales team with technical information, including but not limited to, meeting with the customer, reviewing applications, recommending configurations, and generally supporting the effort to submit an equipment order that is correctly configured for the customer’s needs.
  • Support training and development efforts of the field service technician group, including but not limited to, free exchange of technical information, direction on proper repair and installation procedures, and phone support to technicians in the field.
  • Coordinate all of the elements of the installation process including scheduling, directing, managing installation budget, submitting purchase order requisitions, following up on installation open issues, and communicating progress with the customer.
     
  • Apply technical knowledge and skills to training customers in the operation and maintenance of Koenig & Bauer Duran equipment including the requisite safety training.  
     
  • As directed by management, develop and conduct courses, workshops, and presentations to train and teach the sales force in configuring the equipment and in its operation.
     
  • Diagnose, resolve and repair equipment issues that may occur during the equipment commissioning; and instruct customers on how to resolve these issues.
     
  • Act as the main liaison between the customer and Koenig & Bauer while on site.
     
  • Support customers, as needed, either remotely or on-site, if required, to resolve any ongoing operational or service issues that may arise.
     
  • Approach all customer interactions from a “customer first” perspective and display professionalism at all times.
     
  • Complete forms, reports, and other paperwork required as per corporate policy and as expeditiously as possible, especially when such work results in customer invoicing.
     
  • Promote a safe working environment by attending required training, using personal protective equipment provided, and performing work in a safe manner at all times.
     
  • Perform other related job responsibilities as necessary based on business needs.
     
  • Work as scheduled, with flexibility and willingness to work additional time when/as required.
     
  • Perform the job with significant autonomy.
     
  • Make decisions to address on-site customer concerns.
     
  • Perform any tasks assigned by management that relate to the above and/or customer satisfaction in general.
     
  • Ability to explain with clarity detailed technical information to people with varying degrees of technical knowledge.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical training plus 10-15 years of experience in the appropriate technology and folding/gluing operations 
  • Extensive knowledge / experience with current state of folder/gluer technology.
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical components of folder/gluers.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of how to operate and maintain Duran folder/gluer equipment.
  • Experience in interpreting machine specifications, blueprints, diagrams and manuals for folder/gluer machinery.
